5 Ways To Get Your Cat In Shape

Most pets cats in Singapore spend the bulk of their time indoors, loafing around at home. And with such a sedentary lifestyle, there is a high risk of them becoming overweight.
Exercising kitty isn’t as easy as taking her down for a walk like you can with Fido. However, there are other ways you can physically and mentally stimulate your feline. As a cat’s attention span is quite short, trying to engage them in physical activities such as tug-of-war or fetch can be tricky. That said, it’s not impossible to get your feline to work out. Here are five ways to do so:
1. Puzzle Toys
Place your kitty’s favourite treats into a puzzle toy and watch her have a go at it. Not only does this help with her physical health, but it’s also great for mental stimulation.
2. Laser Pointers
We may never know the real reason why laser pointers have the ability to make felines go crazy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still use it to our advantage. Wave the laser to all over the ground for your kitty to chase, and she’ll get a full body workout while trying to catch it.
3. Cat Towers
Multi-tiered cat towers are great for encouraging your feline to exercise as she would have to climb to the top of it to get to her favourite resting spot. You can even place treats on each layer to motivate her.
4. Change Feeding Spot
Instead of keeping Puss’ food bowl at her usual area, try shifting it to a different spot in the house to get her to “hunt” for her food. Change the locations every once in awhile to stimulate her mind.
5. Cat Toys
Stick toys with objects attached to the rope ends are the best kinds for your feline to play with. It triggers her hunting instincts and encourages her to catch her “prey”. This activity is effective, and can be weaved into your daily regime.
