1. Peppa for Dogs (Cooked pork)
from www.meatbowls.com
Price: $4.75 for 145g/$11.25 for 345g
What’s in it: Packed in a biodegradable tub and comprising ethically farmed pork and organic veggies such as carrots, broccoli, celery, fresh beans and pumpkin, this meat bowl is delivered frozen. The ingredients used are free of hormones, antibiotics, herbicides and pesticides.
Verdict: As the chosen meat bowl was in stock, it was delivered two days after we placed our order. If not, you might need to wait up till 10 days for the delivery. The pork was springy and fresh, and the dish had generous chunks of carrots and celery. Bobby liked it so much that he downed it in 53 seconds! However, with specific instructions not to microwave the food, thawing it took longer than expected (even after placing it in the fridge overnight) and we ended up having to warm it up over the stove, which was a tad inconvenient. They also sell raw meat bowls, and their meals are a little pricey, considering they come in 145g or 345g tubs and not the regular 200g or 500g servings.
Score: 3.5/5
2. Salmon & Pasta
from www.furryskitchen.sg
Price: $5.90 for 200g/$12.90 for 500g
What’s in it: This meat bowl features ingredients such as Atlantic salmon, durum wheat pasta, broccoli, carrot, spinach and coconut oil. It's freshly prepared on the day of delivery and immediately vacuum-sealed to retain the nutrients.
Verdict: The food was warm to the touch upon arrival, and the mix of colours from the generous chunks of fish, broccoli and carrots made it incredibly appealing. It was delivered to us two days after placing our order. As the food is delivered fresh and not frozen, your furkid can immediately enjoy it. We stole a bite or two, and it was really delicious! Our furry tester took just 1 min 47 seconds to finish his dinner. Bobby loved it; although his bowl was empty, he kept returning to lick it. Other bowls include beef & sweet potato, lamb & pumpkin, chicken & brown rice, and pork & broccoli. The meals are fairly affordable.
Score: 4.5/5
3. Sous vide premium beef cube steak
from www.vastitude.sg
Price: $6 for 100g
What’s in it: This beef cube steak is prepared via sous vide, which involves placing vacuum-sealed pouches of food into a temperature-controlled water bath; the meat cooks evenly and doesn’t dry out. It's also marinated with rosemary.
Verdict: Succulent enough for human consumption, the beef cubes were tender, moist and flavourful. Bobby devoured the whole pack in 34 seconds—a new record! However, this meal is 100 percent protein and needs to be paired with regular kibble or other veggies. The delivery and preparation took three working days (not including weekends), and it came to us frozen. This is no doubt pricey, but you definitely get more bang for your buck. They also carry a complete diet series (beef or salmon), other premium meats, and oven-baked treats.
