pets’ Breakfast & Breed Club was off to a rousing start with its inaugural instalment held on the last Saturday of January at Happenstance Cafe. Kicking off the series was the sprightly Jack Russell Terrier (JRT). The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as 20 JRT owners arrived bright and early with their energetic furkids in tow.

After the feisty furballs had their fill of Happenstance’s delicious doggy sushi and paw-rents had warmed up with a cuppa, dog trainer Kristina Dieta Setiabudi from Puppy Colours Academy got the ball rolling with an impressive JRT training presentation. She demonstrated a few simple techniques for calming down overexcited pooches and provided tips on handling the active breed.

“The event was well-organised and informative. I’ll definitely try out Kristina’s training techniques to stop my JRT Bacon from lunging at other dogs!” says attendee Paul de Costa with a laugh.

Veterinarian Dr Grace Heng then offered insight into the breed’s history, health and character. “The vet talk was especially helpful. At least now we know the cause of our pup’s itchy paws, and how to treat the condition,” says Kingston Chow, owner of seven-year-old JRT Kalie.

Additionally, pet parents and their furkids indulged in hearty breakfasts prepared by Happenstance Cafe, and actively participated in interactive sessions filled with fun, games and prizes. If the positive feedback is anything to go by, pets’ Breakfast & Breed Club looks set to become one of our most highly anticipated events!
