At eight years old, Alyssa Carter is already a hero for the endangered Rhinoceros. Since learning that Belgian Shepherds were trained to patrol with the SANParks Honorary Rangers to protect the endangered species, this extraordinary girl embarked on a campaign, called Alyssa’s Saves The Rhinos, to raise enough money to purchase the dogs needed.

The shepherds purchased will then be trained to protect the animals on the reserve, as well as sniff out illegal poachers, both of which go a long way to reduce the diminishing numbers of these rhinos.

At the moment, Alyssa sells chocolates and other sweets on her website, initially by selling to friends and family, as well as her schoolmates in Johannesburg. Since then, she has raised over $25,000, enough to purchase two Belgian Shepherds – now she and her family are hoping to raise enough money for a third sniffer dog to be sent to Kruger Park.
