When a Koala mother was hit by a vehicle along the Warrego Highway in Coominya, Australia, she was carrying her joey with her. Now named Lizzy, the mother had to be rushed to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to be treated for head trauma and a collapsed lung.
Her baby, Phantom, was uninjured but refused to leave her side, and held onto his mother throughout the entire surgery.
If that’s not a case of familial love, we don’t know what is! A spokesperson for the hospital has reported that both mother and son are recovering well, and Phantom is still adamantly clinging to his mother.
