Downward Cat
There are many ways to create awareness and find homes for animals in need – a yoga studio opening its doors to some felines in need is one of them.
A studio called Yoga At Connie’s has done exactly this, by collaborating with an animal shelter from Illinois called Homeward Bound Pet Shelter to hold a series of classes which allows participants and cats to mingle whilst practicing yoga. While the felines are pretty relaxed about the yoga poses, they do enjoy taking a snooze on yoga mats while getting some love from the yogis. Some cats would even lie on the participants to give them mid-pose kisses.
Jeanette Skaluba, the volunteer behind the program, says that by bringing the cats -- particularly the often overlooked adult cats -- to the yoga studio, it gives the public more opportunities to interact with the animals freely, as well as see that adult cats have a generally calmer, more easy-going personality – particularly appealing to those practicing yoga.
The collaboration hopes to see these cats finding their forever homes, and the proceeds from these classes go to the shelter.
