The NorCal CorgiCon
For the second year in the running, Corgi paw-rents and lovers gathered for four hours on San Francisco’s Ocean beach for some frolicking good fun. The Corgi Con is a semi-annual event (summer and fall) that was founded by the dog lovers of San Francisco last year. Not only does it recognise the breed’s little-legged cuteness, it also raises money for West Coast animal rescue groups like the Corgi Aid.
The festival drew more than 600 pup-ticipants with their doting paw-rents, up from the 500 at the June summer bash. The Saturday soirée had such an exciting line-up of activities, there was something for everyone, from mini games to sprinting races and even a raffle—simply because all the fun wouldn't be complete without some prizes up for grabs. The winner of the sprint race--Corki the Corgi--walked away with a Smart Feeder sponsored by Petnet, while winners of the raffle won an array of prizes that included toys, gift certificates, and even a microBATH.
The festival also featured a Corgi Costume Contest as an event highlight--a great opportunity for the Corgis to show off their Halloween garb. Corgis of all sizes and colours showed up as different characters like Yoda, Ash Ketchum from Pokémon, Superman and Waldo.
