Santa Claws in Tokyo!
Japan always surprises the world with the cutest and quirkiest things and ideas. This gigantic 2m by 6m kitty is no exception. It responds to nose rubs by opening its mouth and dispensing presents to passers-by.

Located deep within the underground maze of passages, shops and platforms of the Shinjuku Station, the black cat is part of an eye-catching campaign by Japan’s largest delivery company, Yamato Unyu (Yamato Transport) or TAQ-Q-BIN, who is well-known for their cute black cat logos.
To anyone who stops to rubs its nose, the gentle giant will meow and transform into “Santa Claws” to dispense a compact delivery boxes filled with unique, themed merchandise through its mouth. The kitty’s tummy can hold up to 72 gift boxes. Take a look at the unusual way the presents are handed out in the video below:
The kitty was “awake” and giving away presents at Shinjuku Station’s Metro Promenade from 11am to 7pm from 30 September to 4 October. Thereafter, the kitty went on a nationwide tour around Japan, just like a giant, furry Santa that arrived early with presents for the cat lovers.
Those waiting in line to pat the giant can take a look at the compact boxes that line the wall, which would give them a hint of the variety of prizes they could lay their hands on, while showing what items can fit into the box for sending. All the products feature the black cat, in the company’s black and yellow colour scheme.
