The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is one of the longest running sports events in the United States. What makes it more exciting this year, is the unveiling of six new breeds that have recently become eligible for competition. They are the Boykin Spaniel (Sporting Group), the Bluetick and Redbone Coonhounds (Hound), the Italian Cane Corso and Leonberger (Working), and Icelandic Sheepdog (Herding).

The Westminster Dog Show is the most important of the three American dog shows, including the popular National Dog Show. The event is the largest and one of the most prestigious in the world with 2,500 purebred dogs to be judged.
