Tit for Tat
In Strongsville, Ohio, a woman has been punished for leaving her dog in the car while she shopped in Walmart. A member of the public notified the police, who then waited for the owner of the dog to return.
When the dog’s owner showed up, she insisted that the dog was fine, and did not look uncomfortable despite being in the vehicle with the engine turned off and the windows rolled up completely.
The police officers then implemented an unusual “punishment” for the pet owner – she was asked to sit in her own vehicle, with the same conditions she set for her dog. Even though she claimed to feel fine, the police officer noted that she looked uncomfortable, and warned that she would be cited for the offence if she was caught again.
This is not the first case of pets being left in vehicles, and despite the potential fatality, heatstroke or brain damage, it seems that police still find themselves dealing with this issue.
