Miracle Pooch
A Bulgarian stray dog named Joshua has become the first pooch in the world to be able to walk again – after his spinal cord was severed. Rescued two years ago, he was found badly injured at the side of the road by his rescuers, two British vets, Michelle Jones and Jayne Jones, who then decided to attempt surgery on Joshua’s spine.
After pulling through the never-attempted before and very risky surgery, Joshua rested for six-months, before he was deemed safe enough to be flown to Britain for further rehabilitation treatment. The incredible pooch is now able to move and feel his backlegs, as well as wag his tail – which is a groundbreaking step both for him and the world of modern medicine.
Vets are now continuing with Joshua on his treatments, which include hydrotherapy, and are expecting Joshua to be able to walk on his own within a year.
